“A foreign citizen who provides proof that he can live on his own means, which must be at least equal to the annual net minimum wage, regardless of the allowance for adults with disabilities mentioned in article L. 821-1 of the Social Security Code and the additional allowance mentioned in article L. 815-24 of the same Code, receives a temporary residence permit marked “visitor” for a period of one year. He must also prove that he has medical insurance covering the duration of his stay and undertakes not to engage in any professional activity in France. Despite article L. 414-10, this card does not give the holder the right to engage in any professional activity. The conditions for the application of this article are determined by a decree of the State Council.”

Documents

  • Passport (Foreign passport) — all pages
  • Internal passport — pages of civil status and registration
  • Birth certificate (translated into French with apostille)
  • Marriage certificate (translated into French with apostille), if applicable.
  • Documents related to the current social and economic status: diplomas, resumes, company registration certificates, etc.
  • Confirmation of the availability of financial means to live in France: tax returns, bank statements (translated into French)
  • Certificate of ownership or rental agreement with confirmation of payment for utilities: gas and/or electricity and/or telephone and invitation letter
  • We prepare together:
    a. Medical insurance covering the entire stay. The insurance must be valid for the entire duration of the visa (maximum 1 year).
    b. Commitment not to work in France
    c. 2 photos

Procedure

  1. Preparation of documents
  2. Submission of an electronic dossier
  3. Appointment of the meeting
  4. Submission of a paper dossier — originals are provided, and copies of documents are provided at the visa application center
  5. Making a decision. In case of a positive decision, a special entry visa is pasted into the passport, which is also an annual type of residence — VLS-TS
  6. Entry into France: when entering France, a stamp is placed on the border and entry is marked. After that, the foreigner’s personal account is created and the tax fee is paid (200 euros today)
  7. Confirmation of the creation of a personal account and payment of the fee is sent to the Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII)

Extension

3 months before the expiration of the first residence permit, it is necessary to submit an extension request in electronic form through your personal account with copies of supporting documents:

  • passports
  • residence permit
  • birth certificates
  • marriage certificates
  • confirmation of the place of residence
  • confirmation of financial condition
  • annual insurance

Upon submission, an electronic confirmation is issued and a temporary permit is issued a little later. If approved, the applicant receives a positive decision, and then a call to the prefecture to receive a plastic card.

Features of the “Visitor” status
